The Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the Republic of India legalizes original or certified copies of commercial documents for use in the Dominican Republic. The Embassy legalizes the commercial documents on the basis of the signature of the authorized officials of the Ministry of External Affairs of India. Hence, it does not take responsibility for the content of the documents. The commercial documents must be attested at the Ministry of External Affairs Counter at CPV Division, Patiala House Annexe, New Delhi or its branch secretariat. The Dominican Republic and India are members of The Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, by means of which countries mutually recognize the authenticity of the signature, seal, or stamp appearing on the apostille of both countries. Documents issued and certified with an Apostille in India to be used in the Dominican Republic do not require legalization by the Dominican Republic Embassy in India. An apostilled document will be considered a legalized document for all purposes by all concerned in the Dominican Republic. Apostille is done for personal documents such as birth/death/marriage certificates, affidavits, power of attorney, and educational documents like degree, diploma, matriculation, and secondary level certificates.
